marimos
my new lovable pets
(Japanese: 毬藻 marimo)
At Lake Akan a great effort is spent on the conservation of the lake balls. This includes an annual three day marimo festival in which the Ainu people, the indigenous people of Hokkaidō, play an important part.
Because of their appealing appearance the lake balls also serve as a medium for environmental education. They bear a certain likeness to the Earth in being green and round and in their need to rotate in order to receive light on all sides.
In Japan the marimo has been a protected species since as early as 1920, defined as a natural treasure. Small balls sold as souvenirs are hand rolled from free-floating filaments.
The marimo was given a status of protected species in Iceland in 2006.
It is said that taking good care of the plant will make one's wishes come true. Both Lake Mývatn and Lake Akan are protected, the former as a nature reserve, the latter as a national park.

yes, i do think so ... i love this seasons the most !
perhaps not only about gifts and wishes, but the atmosphere i feel around the airs
makes it magickal and joyful in a way ,
i believe that miracles do happen in christmas

halloween is coming !
It's Halloween time! Like many other western customs (Christmas, Valentine's Day etc.), the Japanese easily adopt it, especially for commercial purposes. There are pumpkins displayed at the stores, and some people wear costumes and go to parties. However, there is no real custom for Halloween in Japan. I never experienced "Trick or Treating" with a cute costume when I was little...
I will tell you about Japanese ghosts, though the Japanese ghost is usually a thing of summer. The Japanese have their own ghosts, and there are a few terms to describe them.
Obake, Bakemono
Literally means, "transforming thing." "O" is an honorific prefix and "bake" is a noun form for the verb "bakeru (to change, to transform)." It can also be used more generally to refer to anything that is weird or grotesque.
Yuurei
According to Shinto beliefs, all people have a soul called "reikon." When a person dies, the reikon leaves the body and joins the souls of its ancestors. However, when a person dies suddenly by murder, is slain in battle, commits suicide, or when he or she hasn't been given an appropriate funeral, the reikon may become a yuurei to seek revenge. Many yuurei are female ghosts who suffered badly in life from love, jealousy, sorrow, or regret. Male yuurei are less common.
Yuurei usually appear in a white kimono (katabira), which people were buried in the old days, and have no legs. They also wear a white triangular piece of paper or cloth (hitaikakushi) on their forehead. They usually appear between 2 and 3 a.m.
Here is one of the famous yuurei stories "Bancho sara-yashiki (The Story of Okiku)" in Japanese and English.
Okiku works as a maid at the home of the samurai Tessan Aoyama. One day while cleaning a collection of ten precious ceramic plates, which is a family treasure, she accidentally breaks one of them. The outraged Aoyama kills her and throws the corpse into an old well. Every night afterwards, Okiku's ghost rises from the well, slowly counts out nine plates and then breaks into heartrending sobs, over and over and over again, tormenting the samurai. Finally, vengeance is wrought when Aoyama goes insane.
conversations with the trees
conversations with the trees in taiwan was short but precise ... as they all rush to tell me whts needed and wht i can do within my sleeps and how to heal the grids within the damages... i feel humbled and fortunate to be able to help in my ways for them all ...

perhaps its meant to b
perhaps its meant to be, so that i can go over and heal that part of motherearth with the medicine from pa dave and the rest . so that the future generations of mother earth can be filled with bliss and harmony, health and happiness . perhaps its meant that i should head there at this moment for this is what i've been re-affirming for a long while, that i want and i am healing motherearth and her future generations ....
yesterday i dreamt that i was on a journey to travel to all parts of motherearth and putting in the medicines for her and as i travel along , i learn more and gain more wisdoms and humbleness too. and suddenly now, i feel that this is wht i need to do and that i know, the path has been set for me to follow ...to go with the flow, i cant explain how i feel or what i know what to do , but somewhere deep inside me, i am full of excitements and anticipations to do it .....
big ambition , yes, but not impossible ..... eheheheeh .may god be with me and my faeries folks and guides protect me and guide me along this journey of healings !

a bright day
she is interested to see a site for her upcoming new project and i went along to take a look at the surroundings and space. its got a cool natural ambience and out in the open,it does seems quite promising. anyway, shes considering few options as well .
we chatted and i told her about my back shoulders aches and she took me to this chinese sinsei over at orchard plaza at 5th level unit7. He had me lie on the bed and started to pull and push my bones into different alignments to fix the aches and WOWWWW....painful !!!! but definitely worth it cos i felt so much lighter and better immediately after that ...he's got light fingers and hands and i think that hes a healer too ...i felt the energies and i actually believed in this sinsei too ! even though its my first time meeting him today ^__^
and just from the pushing and pulling of the different sections of my bones, he can tell that i've got lots of fire heat inside my body and wind in the stomach as well. He told me that i have to change my diet and to try take more soupy base and light meals instead of solid meals for the time being and recommended me to try a 20days supply of detoxifying granulates. this medicine came from sweden and it is made of various natural plant extract. Definitely EX ! as its $160.
all in all, i spent 230$ today . Sinsei said to go back to him in 3-4days time for the last and final treatment but as i'm flying to taiwan, i decided to go back after the trip .
its kinda heartpain to spend so much for a session but if in a long run it helps me from inside out, i would say that its $$$ worth spending on *hehehhe* Smile !!!!!

The Lion
The lion will fill you with courage, the courage to be who you are and show it to the world. He will teach you how to roar out with your power, displaying your talents and announcing your presence. He will teach you to have the courage to be yourself, always and in all ways and to know the deep truth, that you are exactly as you should be. After all, you are the lion.
The lion is power, but power contained. He will teach you the strength of quiet command. He will teach you to hold yourself with such presence that merely being around you will fill others with respect and awe.
Know and be the quiet strength of complete confidence. Speak calmly and with authority. Act from a place of personal truth and wisdom, a wisdom that comes from the quiet times you spend just being and feeling your deep connection with all that is.
Walk with grace and strength. Hold your head high. And once in a while, give out a resounding, magnificent roar. After all, you are the lion.

Friends
Good friends enrich our lives in so many ways. Through a magical combination of similarities and differences, friends offer us the opportunity to know ourselves as we are and help us grow into who we want to be. Our similarities attract us to each other, comforting us with familiarity when we see ourselves in them. When we are drawn to those we admire, the same recognition is at work, unconsciously acknowledging that these people possess qualities that we ourselves possess. By acting as mirrors, friends help us define who we are by reflecting our selves back to us.
Friends also help us know ourselves through our differences. Differences allow us to see other options and make choices about who we want to be. Sometimes we are drawn to those who appear to be our opposites, and we learn to accept the parts of them we love and the parts of them that don’t resonate with us, thus allowing us a valuable learning experience. By expanding our understanding to include others’ experiences, friends help us accept others. By understanding when someone’s life differs from our own, we can learn about ourselves in contrast. There are times when we see in friends what we don’t like about ourselves. That mirror reflection may be hard to take, but a good friend helps us find ways we can change and supports us in that choice.
Part of the joy of friendship is the feeling that we are accepted just the way we are, with no need to change. It is a gift they give us, and one we can give back every day. Ultimately, we choose friends because they make us feel good about ourselves and life. Through tears and difficulties, friends help us find the laughter. When we find those special people who offer us that perfect combination of comfort and stimulus to grow, we are very fortunate. Friends, those wonderful companions that walk with us through life, help us define and refine who we are and who we choose to be every day.

Learning To Love As Learning An Art : by Meredith Ian
Possibility—This includes having the time to devote to the art, and the physical capacity to do it. One can not very well pick up a violin if one’s hands are broken. Time, more often than not, is something that gets in the way of being able to devote oneself to loving.
Commitment—It is much easier to pronounce “I paint” or “I love you” than it is to actually master painting and to unconditionally love someone. Without the wish, will and dedication to work, it will never happen.
Goals—This includes the ultimate goal of mastering the art as well as all the stepping stones along the way. Staying focused on the present is important, yet without an idea of where one is heading it’s easy to get lost.
Instrument—Just as I can not very well master the guitar on a block of wood, I cannot love without an object for my affections. This doesn’t mean a person has to be in a romantic relationship to practice loving—we can practice loving human kind, friends, family, pets, god, and most importantly, ourselves.
Confidence—This does not mean that if you think you’re the best cellist, then you will be. It refers to accepting where you are in your practice. Expecting to be a master on your first try is unrealistic. Mastering an art takes a lifetime, and surely many mistakes will be made along the way.
Patience—Hand-in-hand with confidence, patience is needed to persevere through the low points. If martial arts were easy, everyone would do it. The same goes for love. Truly opening yourself to another, being vulnerable, and accepting the other unconditionally takes a lot of effort. It is a common misconception that “love should just come naturally.”
Model—If I took a person who has never heard music, gave him a clarinet and said, “play me some jazz,” he would not have the foggiest idea what I was talking about. In love, we model our behavior after those who influence us—whether it be from family, friends, a religious figure, mentor, therapist, or books.
Discipline—Practice makes perfect. Even when you’re tired, or when you’d rather just watch a movie, you’ve got to push through and always remember to keep at it.
Persistence—Working closely with confidence, persistence requires having faith in the process of learning. That even though you don’t get it all now, if you keep at it, eventually you will.
Environment—A safe space to learn, practice, make mistakes and try again is also needed. A ballet dancer needs a studio with a bar, and a lover needs freedom to explore and express his or her feelings.

greetings from NZ !
greetings from NZ. time over here is 10.06am now and i'm totally worn out !
been working from the day i arrived and its still on-going even though the hikoi is officially over ...we still have tons to do and to clean up the mess left overs and to pack everything back into its own place so that it can be reused again next year .
For this year, i'm all over everywhere, in the ktichen cooking and making salads, helping wai in her computer stuffs/adminstrative works , conducting workshops and assisting her in her teachings as well ... so overall, theres never a free time for me to cool down or sit down for even 5mins . Even the participants said that i'm always on the go , doing everything at one time .... super robot i am :P
Oh well, 2morow angelika and wai and i are going on a ferry over to the south island, the picton and thats where we will start our own little journey into nelson and etc, we didnt plan anything but to just go with the flow and hopefully we'll get time to visit the saturaday market over at nelson's as its apparently a very cool and good/interesting local market where all the artists and designers show off their wares .... theres even a japanese carver i hear and hes got very beautiful stuffs but expensive !! hahahaha
then on 17/18 march is another teachings over on at the farm and i'll have to participate and help out in any ways too .... and its work and work and work till i fly back to Singapore ....
I cant say how or what i have learnt as i havent got time to digest or process or to cool down and sit down to think so i'll have to see/cool off when i'm back ....
hope that u guys are having fun in Singapore too .... Ja ^__^
