The Japanese word for "dragon" is, "tatsu" or "ryuu". There are three kanji characters to express the word, "dragon". One （竜） is in Joyo kanji, and the other one （龍） is the old style kanji. When describing a dragon as, "Juunishi", a different character （辰） than the previous two is used.

coming 2012 is tatsudoshi, year of the dragon ^__^

Here are some Japanese expressions that are related to the word "dragon":

Gekirin ni fureru 逆鱗に触れる　--- "Gekirin" is the scale on a dragon that grows in the opposite direction to all the others. A dragon doesn't harm humans in general, but hates to have its "gekirin" (scale) touched. It is said that if a "gekirin" were touched, the dragon would become furious and kill the person responsible immediately. Therefore, "Gekirin ni fureru" means, "to incur the wrath of the Emperor; to provoke the Emperor's wrath; to step on the toes of a man in power".

Touryuumon 登竜門　--- Literally translates as, "Climbing the Dragon's Gate". It expresses, "the gateway to success; an opening to honors". It finds its origin in the old Chinese legend about a carp, swimming up a rapid current and a waterfall named, "The Dragon's Gate", that turns into a dragon and goes to heaven.

Ryuutou-Dabi 竜頭蛇尾　--- Is one of the, "Yoji-Jukugo". It literally means, "A dragon's head and a snake's tail". It describes a, "bright beginning; dull finish; to end in an anticlimax; a tame ending."

Plot/Synopsis

10-year-old Sota lives with his grandfather and a dog named Chibi in a small snowy village. im down at amsterdam now ,
been travelling from 945am yesterday hamburg time and had arrived at 2pmplus amsterdam time too ! lida & lida , along with mummywai and pa dave came to the train station to pick me up and we went straight into the square and red light district hahahah ....

and we had yummy dinner, pa dave gave me a treat ! its cool .... yummy pan-fried cod fillet with fries and shrimps ....

now im at lida's place , trying to sort out whats needed for the festival ...

time here is 11.20am now .... weather here is hot like singapore !

its where you will experience time travelling into Edo period ~ where old buildings with black plaster and thick gatefolds are lined up on the street . while the temples & shrines stand quietly & celestially. listen to the children's laughters and voices from the penny-candy alley too ....

these sights & sounds will make u feel as if you've travelled back in time ... heheheh

Kawagoe is also called " little edo" in Saitama prefecture, located just next to Tokyo. its also proudly protected by its people . Kawagoe matsuri is one of the biggest festival over there and its held every Oct , they celebrate by decorating tall "Dashi" floats & parade them on the streets.

* take tobu tojo line (from Ikebukuro St. to Kawagoe St.) express 31minutes. 450yen

7th march, few of us gathered for timsum buffet at jade and it was pretty yummy especially the scallop porridge and the tonic soup !!! and while we were playing pool , we took this pic .... our pretty happy feets hehehehe ...... and we challenged the guys to a battle of bowlings as well . and we won !!!!!!!!! our prizes? free treats of icecream for us all gals by the guys ^__~ yAAAAAy !!!

hahahaha shus was commenting that we should do it next time during friday night and losers shall treat dinner cum drinks ! hahahahaha ..... i think cindy will be very happy about that ! free drinks .......

later we went separate ways and tom & i went to the games areas to try our lucks on scooping up the little stuff toys and big stuff toys and it was fun but damaging to our pockets !!!!!!well, we gotten 4 stuff toys in the end .... so its cool !

yesterday we had our reunion dinner with elisabeth & christian, cindy & elaine.

our first vegs reunion dinner that tasted so yummy that it didnt make any differences when theres no meats in them .....

and becos its also elisabeth's birthday yesterday, we ordered longevity buns for her !

Sou tao (literally longevity peach) is a special Chinese steamed bun eaten during birthdays.

In Chinese culture, peach is long associated with longevity. It is believed that peach of the Heaven (pan tao) can grant one an extra 500 years of life once eaten.

after which, we went over to the chinese new year market and walked till almost 12midnight...

today they had their foot reflexology done and started packing to make 2 parcels to send back to hamburg .... heheheh

its always happy to see them both .... our pleasures indeed !

today mayumi brought her mum and sister from japan to come for the special rate drawings and their appointment was from 1noon to 2,30pm originally but it took a longer time and we actually ended at 4.30pm .

throughout the sessions, theres no way i can pick up my calls so when another client was here, she didnt dare to ring the bell at the door for shes scared that it might be the wrong door and she left ........ i gave her a ring after this and shes mad at me . i explained to her and shes still mad .
and i said back to her , if you had ring the doorbell, you would not have made a wasted trip .....

oh well theres no way i can pleased everyone ..... and im only a one person tending to everything here so please do understand .....

if you are here , you can see my door unit number and please just ring the bell ! even if its the wrong door, you just need to say sorry to the neighbours and thats all ...... whats so difficult about this ?

today sundara said its ok to meet at 3pm at orchard ion exit.
i asked her if she knew where that is and she said yesyes shes been in singapore for 2years before.

and yet at 3.05pm shes still at fort canning and shes lost her way . she said shes taking cab down to orchard ion taxi stand. then i walked over to the taxi stand and waited for 15-20mins, came an sms saying no cabs, shes taking the bus now ! urghhh, then i sms her and asked should i then go back to the mrt and wait for her ? she replied: yes that would be much easier ......

when i was back at the station,came another sms, said shes at the taxi stand again , she doesnt know where ion exit is ...........

up and down i went several times .......... luckily at the end i managed to find her .

we went for japanese tea and chats and i took her to the roof top garden in orchard too .... and i have to get back in time for mynext appt ......... busybusy hot hot day !!!!

In Japan, it is only the women who give presents (mainly chocolates) to men on valentine's day ! Japanese women are usually too shy to express their love. (Though it might not be true nowadays.) Therefore, Valentine's Day was thought to be a great opportunity to let women express their feelings.

Men are supposed to ret...urn gifts to women on a day called "White Day" (March 14th), a Japanese creation. (only if they like the gals that gave them chocolates too or they want to express their love to the ladies they like heheheh )

yesterday night all of us, the usual gang celebrated betsy's birthday over
at chowan korean restaurant and its quite happy to see everyone
participant in the new year 2010's first celebration for friends !

managed to find time to join in as well , the ever working fiona too !!

At Lake Akan a great effort is spent on the conservation of the lake balls. This includes an annual three day marimo festival in which the Ainu people, the indigenous people of Hokkaidō, play an important part.

Because of their appealing appearance the lake balls also serve as a medium for environmental education. They bear a certain likeness to the Earth in being green and round and in their need to rotate in order to receive light on all sides.

In Japan the marimo has been a protected species since as early as 1920, defined as a natural treasure. Small balls sold as souvenirs are hand rolled from free-floating filaments.

The marimo was given a status of protected species in Iceland in 2006.

It is said that taking good care of the plant will make one's wishes come true. Both Lake Mývatn and Lake Akan are protected, the former as a nature reserve, the latter as a national park.

am i excited about christmas?
yes, i do think so ... i love this seasons the most !
perhaps not only about gifts and wishes, but the atmosphere i feel around the airs
makes it magickal and joyful in a way ,
i believe that miracles do happen in christmas
and i believe that its the seasons that made us more emotional ...

personally, i am grateful for the pre xmas trip with 2 of my galfriends .
we had fun during the trip and it was very fulfilling for them both ...

i am happy that changes came in a way that softens down each obstacles along the way
makes me believe more in nature's way of unfolding the unknowns

Yesterday marks 2nd anniversary ! guess what we did ?
went over to bishan park II for lunch @ canopy dining...we took a cab there and the taxi uncle do not know which one is park one or two so we had to drive round the area to scout for it and when we passed by a group of school students, we winded down the window and asked them and end up they lead us to the wrong park !!!!!!!!

hahahha .......but it was fun i guess , food at canopy is alright but i rather have meals somewhere else .

later on we saw a bicycle kiosk and decided to rent a bicycle to ride together , its a 2 seaters one and we had fun going round the big big park and while theres breezes, both of us ended up sweating like a pig :P

followed on to spa and we took the yuletide package and it was cool !!!!!!!!! we like it lots and both of our bodies felt much lighter after the massages ...

late afternoon we rushed back to get a cake for edward's birthday and surprised him over at their place hehehe . he sure was surprised !!! ^_^

and in the night all of us met up with few good friends for dinner ... all in all, it was time well spent !

4th day in munich

today is a wet cold day !

yesterday was fine and cool and angelika brought me to the Octoberfest in munich and boy! it was full of all sorts of rides, including my favorite merry-go-round with all beautiful horses,animals and flying in the airs swings ...so so cool and of course, plentiful of yummy sweets stores selling coated candy fruits, we got ourselves the sugar coated strawberries *_* and almonds cooked in sugars ....

and we drank each a one litre glass of augustina famous beer , half chicken, cheese platters so so yummy and it was an eye opening festival for me, to see their local people dressed up in their traditional clothes, barvarian styles...very handsome and pretty >_>

coming sat, we will be travelling up to a seminar house where we will stay for 15days workshops and to make the medicine for mother earth . im feeling excited about this but yet nervous too ....but im sure my guides will coach me along each steps

later on in the day we'll have to bring wai's and dave'S bags into the seminar house first as they have lots of stuffs and right now they are in vienna..back on sat and straight on we all travelled up for the workshops Ü

i've just drawn my 1st intuitive drawing today too for johannes, do hoped that he will like it heheheh time now is munich 10:11am , we'll have our breakfast soon when angelika gets back from her gym. for now, i'm munching on taccos , something like corn cheese rings :P

It's Halloween time! Like many other western customs (Christmas, Valentine's Day etc.), the Japanese easily adopt it, especially for commercial purposes. There are pumpkins displayed at the stores, and some people wear costumes and go to parties. However, there is no real custom for Halloween in Japan. I never experienced "Trick or Treating" with a cute costume when I was little...
I will tell you about Japanese ghosts, though the Japanese ghost is usually a thing of summer. The Japanese have their own ghosts, and there are a few terms to describe them.

Obake, Bakemono
Literally means, "transforming thing." "O" is an honorific prefix and "bake" is a noun form for the verb "bakeru (to change, to transform)." It can also be used more generally to refer to anything that is weird or grotesque.

Yuurei
According to Shinto beliefs, all people have a soul called "reikon." When a person dies, the reikon leaves the body and joins the souls of its ancestors. However, when a person dies suddenly by murder, is slain in battle, commits suicide, or when he or she hasn't been given an appropriate funeral, the reikon may become a yuurei to seek revenge. Many yuurei are female ghosts who suffered badly in life from love, jealousy, sorrow, or regret. Male yuurei are less common.

Yuurei usually appear in a white kimono (katabira), which people were buried in the old days, and have no legs. They also wear a white triangular piece of paper or cloth (hitaikakushi) on their forehead. They usually appear between 2 and 3 a.m.

Here is one of the famous yuurei stories "Bancho sara-yashiki (The Story of Okiku)" in Japanese and English.

お菊は青山鉄山の家に、女中として働いていました。ある日家宝である十枚の高価な陶器の皿を片付けているとき、お菊はうっかりその皿の一枚を割ってしまいました。怒った青山はお菊を殺し、その死体を古井戸に投げ捨てました。その後毎晩お菊の幽霊が井戸から現れ、皿をゆっくり九枚まで数えると、突然悲痛なすすり泣きを始めるのでした。それは何度も何度も繰り返され、青山を苦しめました。ついに青山は気が狂い、お菊の復讐は果たされたのでした。

Okiku works as a maid at the home of the samurai Tessan Aoyama. One day while cleaning a collection of ten precious ceramic plates, which is a family treasure, she accidentally breaks one of them. The outraged Aoyama kills her and throws the corpse into an old well. Every night afterwards, Okiku's ghost rises from the well, slowly counts out nine plates and then breaks into heartrending sobs, over and over and over again, tormenting the samurai. Finally, vengeance is wrought when Aoyama goes insane.

a very strong thought came to me earlier as i read heidi's message to me . this is the worst hit for the northern side of taiwan since 50years as the typhoon attacked taiwan on 7-11aug, the dates we were supposed to fly out there. but all flights were cancelled and we have to defer it to 12th...

perhaps its meant to be, so that i can go over and heal that part of motherearth with the medicine from pa dave and the rest . so that the future generations of mother earth can be filled with bliss and harmony, health and happiness . perhaps its meant that i should head there at this moment for this is what i've been re-affirming for a long while, that i want and i am healing motherearth and her future generations ....

yesterday i dreamt that i was on a journey to travel to all parts of motherearth and putting in the medicines for her and as i travel along , i learn more and gain more wisdoms and humbleness too. and suddenly now, i feel that this is wht i need to do and that i know, the path has been set for me to follow ...to go with the flow, i cant explain how i feel or what i know what to do , but somewhere deep inside me, i am full of excitements and anticipations to do it .....

big ambition , yes, but not impossible ..... eheheheeh .may god be with me and my faeries folks and guides protect me and guide me along this journey of healings !

a bright day

this morning around 7am, Judy and me fixed the appointment to meet up at sentosa to visit palawan beach.
she is interested to see a site for her upcoming new project and i went along to take a look at the surroundings and space. its got a cool natural ambience and out in the open,it does seems quite promising. anyway,shes considering few options as well .

we chatted and i told her about my back shoulders aches and she took me to this chinese sinsei over at orchard plaza at 5th level unit7. He had me lie on the bed and started to pull and push my bones into different alignments to fix the aches and WOWWWW....painful !!!! but definitely worth it cos i felt so much lighter and better immediately after that ...he's got light fingers and hands and i think that hes a healer too ...i felt the energies and i actually believed in this sinsei too ! even though its my first time meeting him today ^__^

and just from the pushing and pulling of the different sections of my bones, he can tell that i've got lots of fire heat inside my body and wind in the stomach as well. He told me that i have to change my diet and to try take more soupy base and light meals instead of solid meals for the time being and recommended me to try a 20days supply of detoxifying granulates. this medicine came from sweden and it is made of various natural plant extract. Definitely EX ! as its $160.

all in all, i spent 230$ today . Sinsei said to go back to him in 3-4days time for the last and final treatment but as i'm flying to taiwan, i decided to go back after the trip .

its kinda heartpain to spend so much for a session but if in a long run it helps me from inside out, i would say that its $$$ worth spending on *hehehhe* Smile !!!!!

we had fun i think, with lots of yummy food to eat till everyone's stomach was full ^__~

and it was also a gathering where all of us celebrated moobe's bday ...

theres rounds of different drinks, choya/wine/beer/bubbly ...

at the very end, elaine sugguested playing indian poker and made the few of us laughed like crazy ! .....it was fun but dangerous too if you are the one with the smallest number on ya card for u have to finish the whole glass of drink where everyone took turns to pour in hehehe

it is so soothing to hear the cicadas singing away just outside my window ..
along with the music of the trees and nature, it took away my tiredness and weariness of life ... like a much needed medicine from mother earth, she heals me again . i am thankful and i am grateful . for everything i hear these music, it pulls me back into the wombs of nature . so calming and so releasing .

it was hot hot day and i took the train to town and i was listening to my music and suddenly, forests music started to flood my surroundings and ears, even when i was wearing my headphones and i was on the train.

out of nowhere, i felt the sudden warmth of mother earth, enchanting crickets and others playing music happily and tears started to flood my eyes, it was emotional but bliss.

i cant explain how can i hear those forest music while on the train . nor cld i explained where those music came from ...but they kept me happy whole day long .
